We at Journeys Unparalleled are not travel agents in the traditional sense, meaning we do not simply make airline reservations and book pre-packaged tours at your request. As travel advisors, not only do we provide you with expert advice in developing your dream itineraries, but we also do the legwork to ensure that all the details are taken care of.
Once you decide you would like to work with us, the first thing we’ll do is to sit down with you and go over your near- and long-term travel plans and develop a client profile. Even if you’re hiring us for just one trip, we want to get to know you, how you like to travel and what your priorities, interests and passions are. Are you an adventure fanatic or a foodie? Do you prefer 5-star accommodations all the way, or do you like off-the-beaten-path experiences? Are you a fan of group travel or do you prefer private tours? We’d like to get to the heart of who you are as a traveler so we can ensure that your trip meets all of your expectations. Of course, these preferences may differ slightly from trip to trip, and we’ll find that out as well.
Once we have a good sense of who you are and what you enjoy, we’ll conduct extensive research into your chosen destinations and start putting together an outline of your travel itinerary. After you agree on an outline, we’ll then begin to develop your itinerary using all of our contacts and insider knowledge to get you the best value within your stated budget, present you with a proposal and book the components. And if you are planning far enough in advance, we will be able keep an eye out for special promotions for your hotel, tour, cruise or destination of interest. We will continue to work together with you to fine-tune the itinerary until you are completely happy with it. Until we get to know you better, developing the perfect itinerary may take a few iterations.
Our relationship with you doesn’t end with the booking of travel. We will also be there for you during the entirety of your trip, working with you and advocating on your behalf in case there are any unforeseen problems or changes that need to be dealt with while you are traveling.
Fees
As with any professional advisor, we do charge a fee for our time and services. Our design fee covers research, itinerary design and development, booking and access to our travel industry relationships, knowledge and special amenities with certain operators (hotels, tour companies, cruise lines, etc.).
Our design fees for leisure travel start at:
- $450 for travel with an advance booking of at least 4 weeks for domestic travel, or 8 weeks for international travel. This fee covers travel for up to 9 people.
- $550 for bookings if travel takes place within 4 weeks for domestic trips or 8 weeks for international trips.
- $750 and up for groups of 10 or more people where the upfront work is more involved.
- Exact fee will depend on the travel advisor and the exact nature of your trip.
In addition to the design fee, the only other fees involved in working with us are for rail or air bookings.
Flight ticketing fees are:
- $55-$70 per ticket for domestic coach air bookings
- $75–$95 per ticket for international or business/first class domestic air bookings.
Rail booking fees are $20 per ticket.
If you require us to cancel or change the dates of a trip we’ve booked for you, we do charge trip cancellation / change fees starting at $450 per trip. However, fees vary based on how far along we are in the planning process, how complicated the itinerary, and how much time and work was devoted to the booking. This fee does not apply to minor itinerary changes.
